John Edwards Pest Control is here to help protect your home before termites can damage it.
Billions of dollars are spent each year repairing damage caused by termites. Homeowner's insurance does not normally cover termite damage, so it's important to deal with termites before they become a serious and structural problem.
Termite queens have the longest lifespan of any insect in the world, with some queens reportedly living up to 30 to 50 years. Termite colonies range from a few hundred to societies with several million individuals. Termites nest in the ground around your home, using underground mud tubes as highways and protection from the elements and predators.
Termites gain entrance either through expansion joints or cracks in the
cement slab, or by following any wood which contacts support beams in
your crawlspace. Once they find wood, they burrow inside and start eating.
The best ways to prevent possible termite infestation are to avoid direct soil or water contact with the home foundation. Water should be diverted away from the home by gutters and drains, and a gap of at least 1 inch should be left between the soil and wood portions of the building.
If
you've seen signs of termites in your home or business, it is time to call
John Edwards Pest Control immediately to deal with your pest
infestation.
